The summer picnic of the SKA London, was organised in the Northala Fields, Northall. As the people came in, a few of them started warming up with a game of cricket, some others playing the volleyball and a few more by exploring the park by climbing on the mountains to have a glimpse of the London city.

At around 11.30am various delicious snacks were served to excite the taste buds in preparation for the later meal and also various drinks were served to beat the heat of the day. Soon after, the ‘Sack-Race’ was conducted to the children first, and then for the teenagers and thereafter for the men and the women. It was wonderful to see the sportive spirit in spite of a few of the participants losing their balance and falling on the ground. The game of ‘shot-put’ conducted for men and women to test the strength of their muscles was the right sport to have an idea as to how much they had to eat during lunch.

At around 2.00pm a delicious lunch was served with various dishes, prepared, sponsored and contributed by the SKA and the guests. After lunch, a friendly throw ball match was played in mixed teams of men and women and at the same time a few others played a post lunch cricket match. The participants showed no signs of fatigue and slumber as they geared up for an exciting ‘Tug of War’ contest of men against women. The women were the proud winners as they pulled the men out of the contest to the amusement of the entire crowd in the park. Thereafter the mood shifted to the traditional ‘Dog and the Bone’ and the Bingo games. The picnic concluded with a trademark ‘Baila’ dance where the people danced to the rhythmic Konkani songs.

Thanks to all the participants and contributors and we look forward to see you on 5th of August for the Beach Picnic, 9th of September for the Monthi Fest and 2nd of December for the Christmas dinner and dance.
