The Delhi police have done a preliminary enquiry and a case is likely to be registered. A probe has also been ordered.

The Attorney-General almost fell for the call and had crossed checked with the Law Ministry if he should not represent the government in the case referred to by the hoax caller. He was told that he should go ahead and represent the government and that was when he realised that the call was fake.

Reports said seven calls were made. In one of the calls, the caller, who mimicked the voice of Sonia Gandhi effectively, said she was calling from New York. At that time, Sonia Gandhi was in New York for a medical checkup.

Reports also suggested that the mimicker was an artiste adept in reproducing voices of top women leaders. She was reportedly hired by someone. The identity of this person has not been revealed.
