Prof CM Gupta: There is need to improve standards of food culture in the country


Mysuru: There is need to improve standards of food culture in the country as the medicines cannot respond appropriately due to the poor standards of food", said Professor , Institute of Biotechnology and Applied Biotechnology, Bengaluru, here on Tuesday.

“There is serious threat for health if we don’t adopt standard food culture. Due to unhygienic systems in consumption of food and medicine there are chances of spreading dangerous epidemics through increased virus in future” he said 

Professor C M Gupta was speaking at the valedictory address of the award presenting event at CSIR-CFTRI campus. Students who obtained highest marks in two year post graduation academy including MSc in food technology and International School of Milling Technology (ISMT) have awarded medals, scholarships and certificates.

He said, there are several medicine adverting vary with food consuming in different places, across the country. Resent researches revealed that as such Ayurvedic medicines responds well in some places and allopathic medicines suits to some whom living in particular region based on their food culture. So we need to more concern on maintain hygiene food as well medicines, he added.

The Central Food Technological Research Institute faculties, students and alumni’s needed to create awareness among people on food standards what to eat and what do not, so that common people can also get knowledge over healthy food consumptions.  The CFTRI play vital role in maintaining healthy food in the country, the senior Biotechnologist asserted during the event.

Speaking in the event CSIR-CFTRI Director Professor Ram Rajashekharan motivated students to don’t wait for opportunity, instead, create opportunity by building broad knowledge and skills on respective field. He said every industry needed food scientists and there are hefty opportunities awaited for food scientists across the country and abroad.

CSIR-CFTRI Coordinators Srinivas A and Gangadharappa G H were present during the occasion.
