Mangaluru Police arrest four wanted criminals


Mangaluru: "The Mangaluru South and North Police have been successful in arresting four accused wanted in several cases of thefts”, said DCP Shantaraju at the Mangaluru Police Commissioner’s Office on July 14.

DCP Shantaraju informed that the recent case of assault on a lone woman following theft in her house at PWD Quarters at Bondel has also been solved with the arrest of one person. The woman was looted on the night of July 11 and the thieved s took cash and gold worth around Rs 90,000. The accused was identified as Taranath (23) of Padavinangdy. The police are searching for the others involved in the case, he added.

In another case, the police have arrested Mohammad Rafiq alias Rafiq alias Rickshaw Rafiq (26) of Kalkatta Manjanady near Mulki on the charges of burglary in temples and houses in Kerala as well as Karnataka. He was also wanted in some kidnapping cases.

The third arrest made was on July 14, Tuesday. Rajesh alias Appu (33) of Tannirbavi and Altaf (23) of KC road were arrested on the charges of stealing cash worth Rs 1,740 from a pedestrian Radhakrishna at Baikampady Industrial Area on July 6 after stabbing him with a knife.

While Altaf was wanted in similar two cases in the Mangaluru South Police Station and Mangaluru North Police station limits, Rajesh has two cases against him in Mangaluru North Police Station.
