Event Report: SKA Monthi Feast Celebration

The SKA Monthi Feast was celebrated with immense fervor and devotion on 8th September at Alpertom Community School. The event, originally scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM, managed to start on time despite the hall being occupied by other events. The celebration began with a heartwarming ceremony of offering flowers and blessing the new grain, which took place outside the hall.

Opening Ceremony: Offering of Flowers and Blessing of New Grain:

All attendees gathered outside, where children presented flowers to Mother Mary in a symbolic gesture of respect and devotion. Rev. Bishop Dr. Gerald Lobo, Fr. Lawrence Devin Noronha, and Fr. Roshan Lopez led the prayers and blessed both the new grains and the congregation. The attendees included not just local members but also representatives from various community organizations, such as KCA UK, MUKA Nottingham, UK Konkans, and Prayer Group London.

This ceremony was followed by a grand procession into the hall, accompanied by the lively and energetic PRESTON BRASS BAND, whose music set the tone for the festive atmosphere. The band’s performance filled the air with joy, making the event feel truly celebratory.

The Holy Mass:

The highlight of the day was the Holy Mass, which began at 12:00 PM. Rev. Bishop Dr. Gerald Lobo officiated the mass, delivering a spiritually uplifting sermon that touched the hearts of all those present. The mass was further enriched by the choir, led by Alwyn Saldanha, whose melodious voices elevated the spiritual experience. The mass ended at 1:30 PM, followed by a sumptuous traditional Mangalorean lunch, during which the sacred “Nove” was distributed to everyone present.

This launch marked an important step forward for the SKA community, providing them with a platform to connect and engage more effectively.

A stage program followed, during which several distinguished guests, sponsors, and community leaders were honored. A special surprise felicitation was held for SKA President Sunil Dcunha, recognizing his tireless efforts in supporting the community. Both Rt. Rev. Bishop Paul McAleenan and Rev.
