Report on SKA London Picnic to Wittering Beach

On Sunday, 18th August 2024, SKA London organized a memorable picnic to Wittering Beach, with a remarkable turnout of 160 members. The day began with members gathering at Kingsbury, the designated starting point, where two coaches were ready to transport the excited group to the beach.

The journey began on a delightful note with a traditional Mangalorean breakfast prepared by SKA members, which set the tone for the day. During the ride, the atmosphere was lively as raffle tickets and housie housie tickets were sold, building anticipation for the games and prizes ahead.

Upon arriving at Wittering Beach, the first order of event was the raffle draw. Prizes were distributed to the lucky winners on the spot, adding to the excitement. The day’s activities continued with a series of fun and engaging games, expertly organized by Melston Noronha and Olivia Saldanha. Participants were divided into teams, and the friendly competition created a joyful and spirited atmosphere.

At 1:30 PM, lunch was served, prepared by SKA members. The meal was a delicious and communal affair, embodying the spirit of togetherness. After lunch, everyone was encouraged to enjoy the beach, where the highlight of the afternoon, a tug of war competition, took place. The competition was fierce yet friendly, with the girls team winning the first round to the cheers of onlookers. In the second round, the boys team emerged victorious, with support from other beach visitors, making it an entertaining spectacle for all.

At 3:30 PM, all members gathered back at the parking area for the final round of housie housie. The game was a hit, with many participants winning prizes. The day concluded on a high note with a lively Baila dance, a fitting end to a day full of fun and enjoyment.

The event was a resounding success, thanks to the efforts of SKA President Sunil D'Cunha, Loy D'Souza, and the entire organizing committee. Their dedication ensured that every member had an unforgettable experience. The picnic to Wittering Beach will be remembered as a day filled with joy, laughter, and community spirit.
